When setting up role delegation via My User Account page, are multiple people able to be delegates?

I have tested the same delegation setup for 2 users, both are delegates of the same person, both have approvals to the same areas. However, only the first user I've set up as a delegate receives the approval notifications and emails on behalf of the delegator. The second delegate does not receive anything. Because of the nature of the functionality, it does not make sense for there to be multiple delegates if the second delegate does not also have visibility of approvals or notifications. This essentially makes the second delegate redundant as the first delegate will receive all approval
