Does Eloqua regenerate dynamic email content when retrying soft-bounced emails?

Hi everyone,

According to the official Eloqua documentation, when an email soft bounces (e.g., due to a full inbox or temporary delivery failure), Eloqua attempts to resend the email for up to 48 hours.

My question is regarding the behavior of dynamic elements within the email asset during this retry period. Specifically:

  • If the original email included dynamic elements such as field merges, signature layouts, or dynamic content blocks,
  • Will Eloqua regenerate the email content at the time of each retry?
  • Or will it resend the exact same rendered version that was generated at the original send time?

For example, if the recipient’s contact field values have changed during the 48-hour window, would the resent email reflect those changes, or would it retain the original values?

Howdy, Stranger!
