Data access set vs Ledger

Summary:

Hi,

For period closure testing I created a Test user with only Role - GL Period Close.
When I gave Security Context as Ledger and chose the specific Ledger, I don't have the option to close the period.
But when I give Security Context as Data Access Set, then I am able to close the period.

What is the difference between DAS and ledger in Security Context and why does it work this way.
