SubVars in Prompt Picklist Not Showing in Prompt for Book

Summary:

We have a report that uses prompts for Years (the default is our subvar for current year - &CurYr).

We use this report in a Book and want to set the prompt in the book to look at the previous year (&PriorYr). In the screenshot below you can see the Previous year subvar is available in the picklist.

When choosing the desired member in the Book Prompt member selector we cannot choose &PriorYr meaning this Report Book is not going to be dynamic and will need to be updated each year.

Is this intended behavior or am I missing a step?
