Is it Possible to Create Asset Numbering Sequence by Asset Book?

Summary:

We have just created a new asset book for a new entity so we have 2 asset books in our instance: 1 per entity. When we create assets for the new entity, the asset numbering sequence continues from the 1st asset book. Is it possible to have 2 different numbering sequences in the system by asset book. So when the 1st asset of Book 2 is created the asset number would be 1?

In the current state it looks like asset numbers are skipped between books. Globally it's sequential but when looking at asset book 1, for example, it will skip the number that is used by Asset book 2.
