As Oracle has notified us that our environments will be upgraded to Essbase version 21.7.xx as part of the 25.11 update, we would like to gain a clear understanding of this activity.

We’re primarily looking to understand the following:

  1. Why is a migration to Essbase necessary when we are already using EPBCS?
  2. What are the steps involved in the upgrade process, and what potential impact could it have on both our production and non-production environments?
  3. What are the technical or functional advantages of this migration? Specifically, how does Essbase 21.7 enhance or change the way EPBCS operates?
  4. Is this upgrade mandatory?
