How to enable parallel/sequential approval for different rules in the same workflow

Hi,

Is it possible to use both parallel and sequential approval for different rules in the same workflow.
It looks like the 'Edit Approval Participants' is acting at workflow level but not rule level.
Any inputs will be helpful.
