Suppress Missing Blocks and Native (Database) selections produce DTS error

Summary:

For some reports, when selections are set for Suppress Missing Blocks and Native (Database) a Dynamic Time Series error is produced which makes no sense. With both of these settings off the report runs without issue…why? I have other reports using Suppress Missing Blocks and Native (Database) and use DTS but no errors.
