Setting up 'reporting entities' in Oracle ERP

We have been using Oracle Fusion ERP for 6 years, we never configured 'Reporting Entities'. We would like to take advantage of the delivered 1099 reports, but to do so, Reporting Entities need setup, just wondering if by setting these up, will this impact ERP in any other way? and if so, what?
