Is there an easy way to compare payroll elements between pods?

From time to time, we notice that a payroll element acts differently in PRD compared to TEST/DEV sites. Is there an easy way to compare the configuration between those elements from different pods?

I have found the following:

Configuration Migration Tool for HCM and Security to compare configurations using functional setup manager (FSM). This can be then used to analyze configurations and eventually to produce and review a comparison report. I have not used this, but apparently it can be used to create an FSM project for one or for many elements.

There are many steps involved, and steps I have never done before. Is there an easier way to compare elements and how they are set up? I mean besides comparing tabs and looking at each page individually.
