Oracle Linux: rhn-plugin Error Observed on Oracle Linux Instance Registered to OS Management Hub

Applies To

Linux OS - Oracle Linux 7.0 and above.

Summary

Instance is managed via OS Management Hub in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and the below error occurs during yum operation.

# yum update
Loaded plugins: langpacks, osmh, ulninfo

rhn-plugin: ERROR: can not find RHNS CA file: /usr/share/rhn/RHN-ORG-TRUSTED-SSL-CERT

Cause

The presence of this error usually means some legacy configuration (possibly from old rhnplugin or up2date settings) is still present on the instance.

Solution

Look for rhnplugin in /etc/yum/pluginconf.d/rhnplugin.conf. If enabled, consider disabling it.

sed -i 's/^enabled=1/enabled=0/' /etc/yum/pluginconf.d/rhnplugin.conf

Howdy, Stranger!
