API create Absence Pending Approval

We are creating an integration in which we use the API “.../hcmRestApi/resources/absence” to create vacation records using the POST method. 

The vacation requests are created successfully; however, they are being set as Approved, while the expected behavior is that they should remain Pending Approval, just like vacation requests submitted by employees through the UI, which are then routed to manager approval.

Could you please assist on how to proceed?
