Impact of Disabling the segment value from chart of account segments on the Multiperiod invoices

Hi, we are looking for a process to disable any value of the chart of account segment. We understand that, it can be done by disabling the value in manage COA value set values and then disabling the account combinations with that value such that user is not able to use that value again. But in cases where this segment value is used in the Multiperiod accounting distribution combination which has end date of future. How to handle these cases while disabling the segment value.
