Constrained Supply Plan Not Using Substitute Component

Summary:

We are facing an issue with component substitution not being honored in a Constrained Supply Plan in Oracle Fusion Supply Planning, despite having the setup defined via FBDI templates.

Business Scenario:

  • Assembly Item: Manufactured item in Organization 1
  • Primary Component: Manufactured item in Organization 2
  • Substitute Component: Purchased (Buy) item sourced from external supplier in Organization 3
  • Demand exists for the assembly item in Org 1

Expectation

If the primary manufactured component from Org 2 cannot be supplied on time, the planning engine should:

  • Use the substitute buy component from Org 3
  • Meet the assembly demand on time (or reduce lateness)

Current Behavior:

  • The plan does not consider the substitute component
