Does dense/sparse matter in underlying ASO cube for PBCS application

Summary:

We have a hybrid application on cloud with a BSO and underlying ASO which share all dimensionality. Apart from Accounts and Periods being dense, there is another dim that is dense in BSO cube. However in ASO it is marked sparse.

My question is, does dense/sparse matter in the ASO? or the Performance settings as in the order of the dimension or even the evaluation order?

We are seeing some slowness in retrieval from ASO.
