Is it possible for Planning to collect stock consumption from Inventory to calculate forecast

In current project customer would like to calculate a forecast based on item stock consumption (transactions in Inventory Management). Is it possible for planning to collect the stock consumption and used it as input (like shipments history) in Demand Management to calculate forecast?
