Impact of Disabled ActiveX Controls on Oracle Fusion FBDI Templates – Request for Update on Modernization Plans

This post will serve as our ongoing reference to monitor Oracle’s communications and to track the modernization status of FBDI templates for our business-critical processes.


Use Case and Business Need (Required):

We are a Financial Services institution relying heavily on Oracle Fusion FBDI templates as an integral part of our core business processes (including GL, FA, FAH, and Cash Management modules).Following Microsoft’s update to Microsoft 365 and Office 2024, which by default disables ActiveX controls, we can no longer use the interactive features in FBDI templates. This has caused significant operational disruption, with increased manual work, higher risk of data errors, and obstacles to testing (pre-UAT, End-to-End, and production).Our understanding is:
