Can we modify the original asset in CPQ if a subscription is renewed early?

If a subscription is renewed early, CPQ is not showing the current running active assets, but only the future start date renewed asset.

Thus, if any changes are to be made in the current active subscription/asset is not possible. And modifying the future asset is not possible as well as it has not started.
