Demographic Info, employees cannot add new record

Hi experts, we have assigned to some people the seeded employee role, however when they open the Personal Details page under the me tab, the Demographic Info section can be only edited using the pencil icon, the Add icon is not displayed. Differently, the HR can open the same page and use the add and/or the edit icon for that section. Is that the expected behavior? Is it possible to display also for employees the add icon for that section? Thanks in advance
