Any supported method to switch an account to a new Match Type w/o loosing past information

Summary:

Is there any supported method or functionality that would allow us to switch an account to a new Match Type without losing any information (transactions, reconciliation history, comments, audit trail, etc.)?

In our current ARCS configuration, we use two Match Types:

• Bank (approximately 17,000 profiles)
• Internal Account (approximately 1,000 accounts)

We regularly load transactions and perform reconciliations/matching.

For Bank, automatch runs are extremely slow (performance issue).  

For Internal Account, there is no performance issue.

To mitigate the performance problem for the Bank Match Type, we will need to split it into several subsets, reducing the number of accounts and rules/filters processed per Match Type.
