Can we reuse the PER_IMAGES table to store signature images by defining a custom IMAGE_TYPE?

Summary:

We need to store employee signature images in Fusion so that we can retrieve them dynamically in BI Publisher PDF and Excel reports. Since UCM images are no longer accessible from BIP in PDF and Excel formats(It is conformed in Oracle SR) , we are evaluating whether the PER_IMAGES table can be safely extended using a custom IMAGE_TYPE for storing signature BLOBs.
