Hide person number when adding co-worker as contact

Summary:

When an employee adds a coworker as a contact, they are able to see that coworker’s person number. As per our organizational policy, person numbers are considered confidential since they can be used to identify additional sensitive information. Therefore, employees should not be able to view other employees’ person numbers.
We would like to request that the person number field be hidden for employees. Please let me know if this is possible or if there are any alternative options we can consider.
