Remote region error #6 when drilling down to View Transaction on Payroll subledger journal

I am trying to test what data is visible when drilling into the "View Transaction" option on a Payroll subledger journal. When I select View Transaction on the journal, it spins for a long time and then shows this error "Unable to retrieve content. Additional information for "Remote Region error #6"

I have both the General Accounting Manager and Payroll Manager roles (and data roles) with data access for the access set.

Has anyone seen this error before?
