Defaulting custom field in Assignment during Hire transaction

Summary:

Dear Oracle Support Team,

during the hire transaction we created a custom field “Contract Start Date” in the Assignment section.

We would like to understand whether it is possible to automatically default this field with the same date entered in the “When and Why” section during the hiring process.

Could you please confirm if this behavior can be achieved through standard configuration (e.g., HCM Experience Design Studio, defaulting rules, or page composer), or if a different approach is required?
