Simple Explanation of Strict Mode Tracking
1. What Strict Mode Tracking Means
Strict Mode = Eloqua will NOT track a visitor until the visitor gives consent.
Normally Eloqua tracks visitors automatically using cookies. With Strict Mode, the tracking script waits for user permission first.
Purpose:
- Privacy compliance (GDPR / cookie laws)
- Respect visitor consent
- Prevent unauthorized tracking
2. Normal Tracking (Without Strict Mode)
Example: A visitor goes to: www.company.com/products
What happens:
- Eloqua script loads
- Cookie is created automatically
- Eloqua tracks:
- pages visited
- time spent
- downloads
4. If the visitor later submits a form, the activity is linked to their contact profile.
3. Strict Mode Tracking
4. Example: Company website: www.example.com
