Learning admin creates learning assignment but status says no active offering

We are working on doing assignments for self paced learnings, imported from a third party provider. When admins assign the offering of these self paced courses, the status goes to 'No Active Offering'. How do we get this to properly assign the offering/course to the learners? Is there a process we potentially missed that needs to run to link the courses and offerings for self paced courses? We do not use ILT courses so the users don't need to pick an offering.
