Report data grid: Conditional Year member selection based on user's Period POV selection

Hi everyone,
I am creating our half-year and full-year financial statements as a single Narrative report / report package and am trying to minimise the user's POV and prompt selections. I have Period and Year in the POV. The report grids typically have one column for the current reporting period values, driven by the POV, and then a prior comparative period column that needs to reflect the logic below.

For balance sheet, the comparative period needs to be as at the end of the last half or full year reporting period. Users can select intermediate Periods to see part way results for the current period (especially for the income statement), but the comparative balance sheet should remain as at the end of a complete half or full year period. So, the required comparative Year and Period is given by the following table:
