Highlight static variables used in word doclet

Is there a way to highlight static variables that are used in the word doclet. The user wants to see where are those static variables embeded in the word doclet. I am using the highlight option, but that does not highlight the variables used in header and footer

Also, if i am pulling data from Smartview sheet and referencing that in the word doclet. How do i Refresh Smartview automatically, do I have to check out and Refresh every smartview sheet everytime data refreshes.
