Period Name LOV in Quickpays

The Quickpay field for Period Name defaults to current period, which is handy. However we often want to choose the pay period immediately prior to the current one, or the upcoming next period. Typing the appropriate period name is a hassle because the whole field has to be blanked in order to effectively search. If we click the dropdown LOV instead, it initially shows periods from several years ago, which is not helpful and requires significant scrolling. Can this LOV be tweaked to hide old periods on a rolling basis to simplify the LOV?
