FCCS Change in Entity Currency

We have a scenario where an entity needs to move from BGN to EUR as its functional currency. I understand that creating a new entity is the common approach, but I wanted to ask:

Are there alternative approaches aside from creating a new entity?

Has anyone handled this using the same entity? What are the things we need to consider if we do this approach?

Would appreciate any insights or experiences.
