Possible to mass update approval workflows

Hi,

Is it possible to mass update workflows (procurement, requisitions) in manage approvals tasks ?

I hear it's possible de export rules in BPM, is it a best practice to modify the files and them back to mass update them ? It won't be possible to access the manage approval tasks after modifying the rules in BPM afterwards ?
