Grouping on Rows and Columns - can I do a Variance on on both descendants of 2 dimensions?

Summary:

Not sure if this is possible:

I have descendants of children going across the columns (could be between 5 and 20 members depending on what parent is selected in POV). I have descendants of our P&L hierarchy going down the rows. Will the red boxed variance formula ever work?
