Decimal Difference Observed in Trade In-Transit Accounting Due to Rounding and in other event also.
in Costing
Hi Team,
We are observing a small accounting variance in Trade In-Transit transactions caused due to rounding differences at transaction level versus total receipt level.
Below is the sample scenario:
Item Number | Cost |
|---|---|
ABCDE | 12.98071 |
Trade In-Transit Issue Transactions
Qty | Cost * Qty | Amount (Rounded) |
|---|---|---|
12 | 155.76852 | 155.77 |
7 | 90.86497 | 90.86 |
9 | 116.82639 | 116.83 |
34 | 441.34414 | 441.34 |
20 | 259.61420 | 259.61 |
Total = 82 | 1064.41 |
Trade In-Transit Receipt Transaction
Qty | Calculated Amount | Amount (Rounded) |
|---|---|---|
82 | 1064.41822 | 1064.42 |
Observation
The total of individual rounded issue transactions is:
- 1064.41
Whereas the receipt transaction rounded at total level is:
- 1064.42
Hence, a 0.01 variance is generated.
Clarification Required
We would like to understand:
- Whether this behavior is standard Oracle Costing functionality due to transaction-level rounding.
- Is there any Oracle-recommended approach to avoid or minimize such decimal variances in Trade In-Transit accounting?
