Best practice needed: Renewals and Validity Periods

Summary:

In our organisation, certain learning items have a fixed renewal date of the 1st of September. The guidance changes and in order to remain compliant, staff have to take these Learnings after the 1st of September even if they completed the Learning on August 28th for example. I am trying to set up the validity, expiration and renewal dates to reflect this, however in testing, whilst the expiration date is showing as 1st of September 2026 the renewal assignment for someone who has completed before then is appearing as a 2027 assignment, seemingly bypassing the point of the renewal rules.

Has anyone had a similar requirement and how did you handle this?
