On June 22nd, 2026, the U.S. Department of Education released important updates to Volumes 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 of the FAFSA Specifications Guide for the 2026–27 Award Year.

- You reported an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) on your FAFSA form, but your Federal Student Aid account shows that you have a Social Security number (SSN).
- Resolution Required = True
- You reported an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) on your FAFSA form, but your Federal Student Aid account shows that you have a Social Security number (SSN).
- 362
- Your parent reported an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) on your FAFSA form, but their Federal Student Aid account shows that they have a Social Security number (SSN).
