Has anyone used a Pay Value of 0.00 on an override element entry?

We are attempting to override the calculated amount of a recurring payroll element. We entered a Pay Value of 0.00 into element entry using the override entry type. The override did not work. The payroll result was the 'normal' calculated amount. Has anyone used an override pay value of 0.00 successfully?
