Learning Prerequisites and Outcomes

edited 2:56PM in Learning 2 comments

We are evaluating how to configure Course A as a prerequisite for Course B. Our initial approach was to leverage the Prerequisite Outcome functionality, using the outcome of Course A as the prerequisite for Course B. During configuration, we attempted to use Talent Profile as the subscriber in the content section; however, this approach did not work as expected.

As part of an Oracle SR, Oracle advised that we must enable and use Skills Center for this functionality. After configuring Skills Center, the prerequisite logic worked successfully. However, this has raised a functional concern.
The current setup treats the completion of Course A as a skill within Skills Center. From a business perspective, course completion and skill attainment are not necessarily the same thing. In our use case, we simply want to require completion of Course A before a learner can enroll in or complete Course B. We do not necessarily want Course A's completion to create or represent a skill in the Skills Center.
