Alternatives to adding custom UI content in Redwood UI pages

My understanding is that Visual Builder Studio cannot be used to add a new UI component, such as a custom button or link, to an Oracle-delivered Redwood page unless Oracle has exposed a supported extension point on that page. If so, does Oracle plan to expand the available extension points for delivered Redwood pages in future releases? For pages that do not currently expose the required extension point, what supported alternatives would anyone recommend? For example: Creating a separate custom page or App UI in Visual Builder Studio, Using a Journey to present the custom action or external link?
