Requisition account not getting updated on save

Summary: We use smart forms for raising PR's. For most of the categories, the charge account is getting populated on 'SAVE', but for some stray cases, it does not populates on 'SAVE', but when 'SAVE and CLOSE' is done, it gets populated.
How and why such behaviour?
