In approval rule condition, how to check if a worker has a matrix manager or not?

Summary:

We have a requirement for the termination process, that the approval should go to line manager and then matrix manager(if present), if not present then matrix manager level should be skipped in the approval hierarchy. But I couldn't find any standard attribute while writing the rule condition that checks for the manager type in worker's assignment.
If somebody has worked on a similar requirement previously, please do give suggestions.
