Vacation Rule- Extending Dates

Summary: We normally set vacation rules as

Start Date=01-Aug-2026

End Date= 09-Aug-2026.

Now, again if the new vacation period is set, users just extend the End date, then it looks like:

Start Date=01-Aug-2026 (same as previous one)

End Date= 23-Sept-2026.

Is this a good practice or do we need to set the current start dates (& not the back date)?

If some document (say Requisition/PO) is not following the vacation rule, can the details be known when was the rule set up & which date it should honour?
