Internal candidate application notification to manager

Hey everyone,

We have a business requirement that the hiring manager must be notified automatically any time one of their employee's applies for a position.  I'm wondering if and how anyone else has implemented such a requirement?  One suggestion we have is to create a UDF where the hiring manager’s email is populated – either by integration or the employee and the UDF can then be a correspondence token.  Then have the manager’s email get put in the cc: of the internal candidate job specific acknowledgement email.

Does anyone have any other ideas?
