VBS HCM Hire an Employee defaulted field removed by position field

Summary:

I want to default Legal Employer, Action (Hire), Action Reason (Hire to fill vacant position) and Business Unit on the When and Why page of Hire an Employee.

I have managed to default Legal Employer and Business Unit when entering the When and Why page of Hire an Employee.

I then also managed to default the Action and Action reason when the user populates the hire date.

But when the user enters a position, the date defaults to todays date. The action and action reason are blanked out. And the position is also lost.
