Seeking guidance on 12/31/2026 paydate creating a 53rd week in 2026

Summary:

Hello,

We are seeking guidance on how organizations are handling their first pay cycle for Jan 2027, since 1/1/2027 falls on a national holiday.

For context, our organization operates on several different payroll schedules, where our salaried, exempt employees are paid on a monthly schedule, and our hourly, non-exempt population are paid weekly. Our monthly employees are paid on the 27th of each month and weekly employees are paid each Friday. We pay our hourly employees based on their previous week's hours; and our monthly employees are just paid their salary. For example, Our hourly employees will be paid this Friday, October 16th for all hours worked that previous week (October 5 - October 11).

Howdy, Stranger!
