The Tax Information Network (TIN) has published version 1.2 of the file format for Form No. 138 for Q1 to Q3. The key changes from the previous version are outlined below.

1. File Header Record

  • File sequence number. File Sequence No. now has a specified size of 9; the size was previously blank.

2. Challan Detail Record

  • Interest Allocation. Filler 1 is now ‘Interest Allocation’, a mandatory integer field with a size of 15. Whole amounts must include two decimal zeros, for example 1000.00. The value must match ‘Total Interest’ in challan detail record.
