Best Practices for Tracking Spare Parts/Equipment in Oracle Fusion Inventory

Summary: We’re evaluating how best to track spare equipment in Oracle Fusion Inventory and would appreciate hearing how others have designed this.

Our challenge is that only approximately 20% of our inventory organizations currently have locators configured. The other 80% are legacy organizations without locators, and we would like to avoid creating separate inventory organizations just for spare equipment if possible.

The primary options we’re considering are:

1. A dedicated Spare Parts subinventory in each existing inventory organization
2. Enabling locator control in the existing organizations and establishing spare locations
3. Using both subinventory and locator to identify and physically locate spare inventory
