Unable to Remove Mandatory "Phone Type" Field in Redwood Add Contingent Worker

Hi Everyone,

We're working with the Redwood Add Contingent Worker flow and are trying to make the Phone Type field in the Communication Info > Phone Details section optional.

We updated the field configuration in Visual Builder Studio (VBS), but the field still displays the "Required" indicator and continues to behave as a mandatory field when adding a phone record.

Has anyone successfully removed this requirement?

Specifically:

  • Is the Phone Type field requirement enforced by the underlying business object?
  • Can it be controlled through VBS or Transaction Design Studio (TDS)?
  • Are there any profile options, page properties, or workarounds to make it optional?
