How to condense the results within a report?

Hello-
I've managed to craete a report which enables me to track how many candidates I have at each stage of our recruitment process for any given requisition. The problem I'm encountering is that the results are being presented to me with a seperate row for each and every candidate. So far example, if I have 50 candidates for a job I have 50 rows of nearly identical data! Given that we have a reasonable high volume of recruitment this presents a very unwieldy report. I'm sure it's perfectly possible to manipulate the data in excel using a pivot table or
