Issue when exporting to excel

I am migrating a simple excel report to the new tool.  One of the fields on the report is a combo of a section code and section name (e.g., "0201 Corporate" or "0512 San Diego Litigation".  On screen, the field wraps because the column does not fit the entire name on one line, which is fine.

When I export the report to excel, it appears that this field is splitting the number and text into 2 separate values and then merging the cells (instead of just wrapping the value in one cell).  There are other columns on the report that wrap, so I am not sure what the issue is with this field.
