Learning plan still shows Incomplete even though mapped item is completed

We have several users who reported that they are still getting post due reminders even though they have completed their training. Upon further investigation, we find that the learning plans are still showing Incomplete even though items within the learning plan are completed. Has anyone else encountered this?
